“ Mylord Carthago, is the horse of a lifetime, the horse of my heart. I hope to ride one of his offspring one day”.
Pénélope Leprévost
His sire Carthago has had an impressive career combining breeding and competition. He appeared for many years in the top 20 jumping sires. He finished in 11th place at the Atlanta Games with Jos Lansink and was a member of the Dutch team at the Sydney Games. The pair competed in 15 Nations Cups and won the Nations Cup in Aachen, Rotterdam and La Baule. His progeny includes 73 international showjumpers stallions, such as: Cartani, Carthino Z, Coltaire Z, Looping D’Elle, Mylord Carthago*HN, Old Chap Tame, Nartago…
His Dam line is one of the best the Selle Francais has to offer and comes from a long line of international showjumpers such as Jalisco B or Morgat. Fragrance de Chalusse competed as an international showjumper, first with David Jobertie, and then with Karline de Brabander. Fragance produced three exceptional stallions, Mylord Carthago, Norton d’Eole and Bamako de Muze (by Carthago, Cento and Darco, respectively).
Mylord Carthago is a modern stallion. He has three outstanding gaits, shows lots of scope, respect and style over the fences. According to his rider Penelope Leprevost, Mylord is a forward horse who gives a lot to the rider. He is energetic and has a very good jumping technique. Mylord has a very good mind combined with an excellent learning ability. During his competitive career, he never refused a jump, even when schooling. While Mylord is easy to breed and fits a wide range of mares, he pairs very well with medium sized compact mares. He is an excellent choice for mares that need improvement in scope and canter. He consistently passes on his jumping technique, mild temperament, carefulness and good conformation.
